Guided by the “dual carbon” goals, digital finance is reshaping the transformation landscape of energy consumption structures. This study examines the dynamic impact mechanisms of digital finance on regional energy consumption patterns through a carbon footprint perspective, utilizing provincial-level panel data from China between 2011 and 2022.By constructing bidirectional fixed effects models and employing mediation effect analysis frameworks,a comprehensive and in-depth analysis was conducted on the dynamic impact mechanism of digital finance development on regional energy consumption structure.Research has found that digital finance can not only directly optimize the energy consumption structure and reduce the proportion of coal consumption, but also improve the efficiency of technological innovation, accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and enhance social attention to green and lowcarbon through means such as carbon footprint visualization, indirectly guiding the transformation of energy consumption behavior. The research provides a novel perspective for understanding digital finance-driven structural transformations in energy consumption, offering crucial policy insights for achieving the “dual carbon” objectives.
