Since the reform. and opening up, the problems of factor flow, income gap, and unequal public services caused by the urban-rural dual structure have always existed. The integrated development of urban and rural areas is the key path to breaking the urban-rural dual structure and achieving common prosperity. To explore how to promote the integrated development of urban and rural areas, this study systematically sorted out the evolution of urban-rural relations since the founding of the People's Republic of China and the challenges faced by rural development. It deeply explored the key role of digitization in eliminating the urban-rural binary structure and constructed a theoretical framework of “county-level digitization industrial structure urban-rural integration”. From the perspective of county-level digitization, combined with panel data from 183 counties in Sichuan Province, the entropy weight TOPSIS method was used to measure the level of urban-rural integration in each county, verifying that digitization can effectively promote urbanrural integration development. At the same time, using the mediation effect model to use industrial structure as a mediating factor, it is analyzed that digitalization can promote urban-rural integration development by promoting the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure. Therefore, to promote the integrated development of urban and rural areas, it is necessary to strengthen the construction of digital infrastructure in counties, use digitalization to promote the development of county-level industries, and cultivate a “digital +industry” development model to promote the integrated development of urban and rural areas in counties.
