A Study on the Coupling and Coordination of Transportation Infrastructure and High Quality Economic Development-Taking the Chengdu and Chongqing Region as An Example
There is a mutually reinforcing and interacting relationship between transportation infrastructure and high-quality economic development. Taking the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle as the research subject, this paper proposes the mechanism of two-way interaction between transportation infrastructure construction and high-quality economic development from a theoretical perspective, calculates the transportation infrastructure index and high-quality economic development index of each city, and employs coupling degree and coupling coordination degree models to analyze their coupled and coordinated development. The results show that: (1) The urban transportation infrastructure index in the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle has shown an obvious upward trend, while the high-quality economic development index has slightly declined; (2) During the research period, the coupling degree and coupling coordination degree of most cities demonstrate a steady growth trend; (3) There are significant differences among cities in the circle, with Chongqing generally outperforming Sichuan. The above results reflect that the Chengdu-Chongqing region still faces structural shortcomings and regional imbalances in the coordinated promotion of transportation and economic development. To this end, relevant policy recommendations are put forward, such as continuously improving transportation infrastructure, deepening the transformation of economic development drivers, promoting the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure, and advancing the green transformation of economy and society.
