Beyond Traditional Cartography:Spatial Narratives and Emotional Collaboration in Sound Maps

In the context of Web 2. 0, the rise of crowdsourcing and low-cost digital recording equipment has enabled the public to easily access and participate in the production of sound maps. This phenomenon not only satisfies the public's general desire for participation, but also brings the practical production and theoretical research of sound maps into a more complex and implicit cultural creation and struggle. In this sense, this article focuses on sound maps as a digital artifact. First, it examines the real and historical conditions of their emergence; secondly, it focuses on analyzing the qualities of spatial narrative and emotional collaboration in sound maps, and attempts to explain the non-representational thinking and caring practices hidden behind cartography. Most importantly, by reflecting on the effectiveness of cartography, the author hopes to activate its potential in contemporary creative listening, interdisciplinary action, and ethical emotional life in the process of tracing the historical resonance and real resonance of sound maps, thereby further realizing the renewal of traditional cartography, or even transcendence.
