| Abstract | Institutions in transition: Land Ownership, Property Rights and Social Conflict in China is a seminal work by Dutch scholar Peter Ho. Through systematic institutional analysis and field research, the book reveals the ambiguous characteristics of China' s agricultural land property rights and their profound impact on economic and social transformation. It explores how the uncertainty of land ownership has played a role in China' s agricultural modernization and urbanization processes, contributing to social stability while also exacerbating the erosion of farmers' land rights to some extent. |
