Plant tissue culture technology is a basic skill that vocational high school landscape architecture students must master. After analyzing the problem of “emphasizing theory over practice” in the learning of plant cell engineering modules in vocational schools and the need for experimental improvement of tissue culture modules, this study improved the plant cell engineering module according to the culture scheme of vocational high schools, including the introduction of lab courses and project practice. In the implementation process, the theoretical knowledge and practical operation are combined, taking the “potato tissue culture” experiment as an example, focusing on the three stages of “medium configuration, sterile inoculation, potato rate and observation of test tube seedling remultiplication results” to improve students professional quality. In practice, students successfully obtain calluses from potatoes using tissue culture technology, and conduct experiments such as plant regeneration and rapid propagation. Through hands-on practice, students gain an in-depth understanding of the basic principles and practical applications of plant cell engineering while developing their experimental skills and scientific literacy. The results show that the improved teaching methods and practical operations are very effective in improving the learning of vocational high school students. In practice, students not only increase their understanding and mastery of plant cell engineering technology, but also improve their experimental skills and scientific thinking ability. At the same time, they have been exercised and improved in terms of teamwork and innovative awareness. This study provides useful experience and enlightenment for the teaching improvement of plant cell engineering modules in vocational high schools.
